Mont Sainte-Victoire, Provence’s natural jewel<\/span><\/h1>

The Montagne Sainte-Victoire, the unmistakable symbol of Provence, is an imposing sight from the moment you arrive at the campsite: 18 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide, it peaks at 1,011 meters. With 250 km of certified hiking trails, 150 km of mountain bike trails spread over 12 circuits, 1,200 climbing routes and exceptional biodiversity including 126 bird species and over 1,000 plant varieties, it offers a unique playground for nature and outdoor enthusiasts. <\/p>

City of water<\/p>

Founded in 122 BC by the Roman general Caius Sextius, Aix owes its name to the presence of hot springs: Aquae Sextiae<\/em>. Even today, the city maintains this strong link with water. At the top of the Cours Sextius, the thermal baths perpetuate the Roman tradition and welcome wellness enthusiasts. But it’s above all the countless fountains scattered throughout the town that make it a refreshing city full of charm. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

A massif steeped in history and art<\/span><\/h2>

But Sainte-Victoire is more than just an adventure playground. It is deeply rooted in local history and culture, not least thanks to C\u00e9zanne, who painted over 80 pictures inspired by its landscapes. The access road to the campsite, the Route C\u00e9zanne<\/g>, runs along the southern slope of the massif, allowing you to reach Aix-en-Provence while following in the footsteps of the master. On foot or by car, it’s the ideal starting point for your hikes, be they family or more sporting. <\/p><\/div>

The north slope and the Bimont dam<\/p>

Just a few minutes from the campsite, the north-facing slopes also offer some superb discoveries. The Bimont dam, with its turquoise waters contrasting with the surrounding vegetation, offers a spectacular panorama. It marks the start of easy walks for the whole family, leading up to the Prieur\u00e9 de Sainte-Victoire and the Croix de Provence for the more courageous. <\/p><\/div>

To extend the experience, don’t miss the Maison Sainte-Victoire<\/strong>, entirely dedicated to the active discovery and protection of the massif.
